Exmoor Game School - Fly Fishing Club
Exmoor Game School CIC is passionate about introducing the joys of fly fishing to individuals of all ages. Our club is made up of three distinct groups designed to cater to different skill levels and age ranges, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to learn and enjoy this wonderful sport and put deliciously fresh, sustainable fish on the table.
Our Children's Fly Fishing Experiences are specifically tailored for younger children who are eager to dip their toes into the world of fly fishing. These sessions provide a fun and engaging environment where kids can try their hand at catching their first fish on the fly while also learning about the importance of sustainable fishing practices. We believe that it’s just as important for children to appreciate the trout as a local and sustainable superfood as it is for them to enjoy catching them! This is a great way for families to bond over a shared love of nature and the outdoors.
Children's Fly Fishing Experience sessions will be run throughout the Summer/Autumn months - these are available to book now for the summer holidays.
Children's Fly Fishing Club
For those children who have already had a taste of fly fishing and are ready to take the next step, our club sessions are the perfect fit. Aimed at children roughly between the ages of 8 to 16, these sessions take place at a variety of different fisheries. Here, young anglers will build on their existing skills and work towards becoming independent fly anglers. While we don’t enforce strict age limits, we do encourage parents to assess their child’s readiness for this level of fishing. We will be there to assist with setting up equipment and providing valuable tips, but participants should have a basic understanding of fly fishing to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience. We understand that every child is different, and if you’re unsure whether your child is ready for the club sessions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us.
You will need an Environment Agency rod licence which is free for children aged 13-16 you can get your licence here.
Adult Fly Fishing Club
We also offer a Club for adults who are looking to develop and refine their fly fishing skills or simply enjoy the tranquillity of fishing with like-minded individuals. Like any new sport or hobby it can be a bit overwhelming knowing what kit you need, where to fish what fly etc. We can lend you kit, help you with casting, tips on where to go, fly choice etc. This club based at different local fisheries, is a fantastic opportunity for adults to connect with nature and begin or rekindle their passion for fishing in a supportive environment.
Afterwards we'll head to the pub where we can reminisce about the ones that got away and work on our excuses for not catching...an essential part of any anglers fishing trip.
You will need an Environment Agency rod licence, you'll need this to fish on any fresh water fishery in England & Wales. Click here to get yours
